THE GAME

Arok is member of a clan that lives on the windswept and rocky high plateaus. Life is tough and monotonous, particularly in these closing weeks of winter. Game is rare, so the men have to venture far from their camp. During a hunt, Arok discovers paintings that remind him of a traveler he encountered several years earlier, who had infected him with the virus of adventure. Inspired by the fabulous tales he remembers and the wall paintings that the stranger left in their caves, Arok sets out to find him.

From the troglodytic dwellings along the Dordogne and Vézère rivers to the grottos of Lascaux, these cave paintings and their interpretation lead our hero on the trail of the most famous and knowledgeable painter of the period.

The adventure takes place in the Perigord region of France some 17,000 years ago. The epoch was both technically and artistically very fertile and, on the cusp of the Magdalenian and Solutrean cultures, could be considered similar to the Renaissance. The Hall of the Bulls in Lascaux has even been called the Sistine Chapel of prehistory!
